Old Whaler Karluk Leaves Port Clarence Bay for the Far North. Teller, Port Clarehce. Alaska.—Vllhjalmur Stefansson's Canadian polar expedition, which will spend three years in scientific research work in the arctic, set out for* its destination when the old whaler Karluk, commanded by Capt. Robert Bartlett and

with Stefansson on board, sailed from Port Clarence bay towards Bering strait and the Arctic ocean. The Karluk was accompanied by the gasoline Schooner Mary Sachs. The power boat Alaska, which will be used by Dr. R. M. Anderson’s southern party, remained, at Port Clarence to complete repairs to the engine, which broke down tn a'storm a week ago and probably will not leave until Wednesday.
