Gloomy prospects for the corn crop of the United States and a serious shortage in the harvest unless the protracted drought in the west and southwest is speedily broken were given Monday by Bernard W. Snow, crop expert for the Bartlett-Frazier company of Chicago. Mr. Snow based his forecasts on observations made during several weeks .of traveling through the corn fields of the middle west.
