Rumley Plant Will Not Close Down as Published.

The Republican, like many other papers in northwestern Indiana, recently published a paragraph which was going the rounds of the press to the effect that C. 8. Funk, the new manager of the Rumley company, had decided to shut down the main factory at Laporte and all of the branches. This article has created a false impression in many places and The Republican is pleased to annouice on reliable authority that the article was not founded on fact Mr. Funk has found it essential in taking hold of the business to curtail expenses in every possible way consistent with good business, but with a.view to eventually bringing the business back to its old standard or even larger than before. Some traveling men have been taken off the road and the territory of others increased and Harry Jacobs, of Rensselaer, who travels for that company, haslust had hfe territory increased by five counties, including two in Michigan. In all he now has 12% counties, White being divided between hmself and another agent. Mr. Funk, the new manager, will keep the business moving and the factories running just as nearly on a full force basis as it is possible. He is associating with himself in the management other able men who have made great successes in the business world and is every prospect that the Rumley company will come out of its difficulties with flying colors.
