College Thermometer Hits Highest Record and People Are Sweltering in Discomfort, 104 in the shads today That is the record for several years, we believe. The college thermometer had reached that extremely high point before 2 o’clock. People who could afford it have been devoting their attention to finding cool places and not many have succeeded. There is a little breeze stirring but it only seems to strike a few places which have already been pre-empted. Friday the mercury reached almost one-half degree above 101 and that was the hottest tor two years. Today it has climbed to a mark seldom reached even in July or August. * • • * ■ ' • John W.
