Hints on Making of Cakes.

Always have the pan ready for the cake. A toothpick is best for trying a cake to see if It is done. Keep a box of the little wooden skewers in tbe pantry cupboard for this purpose. They are much better than the broom straws our mothers used for pose. If there is any danger of forgetting about the cake after it ia put in the oven, hang a cardboard stgn on the oven door, as some cooks do, to warn against forgetting the cake.
