Gillam Township Boy Was Crushed by Horse Sunday.
Medaryville Advertiser. John Anderson, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson, of Gillam township, met with a horrible accident last Sunday, and while he is still living,- his chances for recovery are very small. The boy was taking horses to'water and was leading a large, blind ihare when the latter became frightened, lunged against the boy and knocking him down, came down with both feet on the prostrate form of the boy. Badly Jnjured as he was he had almost walked to the house when hte condition was noticed by his mother, * who carried him in and laid him on the bed. Not thinking that the child was so badly injured the parents took him to Dr. Linton’s office, where an examination of his injuries disclosed the fact that the breast-bone, seven ribs and the collar bone were fractured and the bones of . the spinal column injured. Font of the ribs were broken tin two places and it is feared that some of the splintered bones may have penetrated the left lung. Edward White and Frank Dunn kindly assisted the doctor in taking the injured boy to his home in the former’s auto. The boy on Thursday evening was still alive, in fact, was somewhat improved, which gave rise to a small hope that he may live.
