Shipyards Kept Busy.

The shipyards of the leading commercial nations of the world are'still very busy, notwithstanding the large additions recently made to the available tonnage of the merchant marine of Europe and America. Last year’s losses were uncommonly heavy, headed, of course, by the Titanic disaster, and there is a record-breaking volume of traffic by sea in all parts of the civ- ’ ilized world. The approaching opening of the Panama canal has an important effect upon the demand for new vessels of large tonnage and high power.
