Muncie—The divorce suit of Mrs. Sarah Ressler against Jeremiah Ressler, whom she charges with hav-r ing a continual grouch, has been brought here from Madison county. The parties-reside in Elwood. Muncie—Charles Gregory, negro holdup man, wounded in a- fight with the police, is in a critical condition in the county jail. Washington—County Assessor W. W. Fagan and wife have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Fourteen of* their sixteen children are living. Brazil—George Schwab was dragged for three blocks along paved streets by a runaway horse. He will recover. Valparaiso—The tenth district Medical society is holding its quarterly meeting here, with fifty members present. Valparaiso—William McDevert, 80 years old, was severely burned when fire destroyed his home. The loss will be $3,500. Peru—A. V. Hite was elected to serve the unexpired term of Councilman Frank Steinmets, deceased. Lawrenceburg—The mail boat Kentucky crushed the launch Indiana against the wharf. Pilot DeLossis of the launch narrowly escaped drowning. Hartford City—J. P. Cronin and O. P. Sample, former and present school board treasurers, have , been given clean bills by the state accounting board. Bedford—William Medlock is held for trial for attempted criminal assault.
Bedford—Mrs. Della Knight has sued the Southern Indiana Power company for $9,000, alleging damages by the overflowing of her farm. Marion—The body of John Brakle soldiers’ home was found beneath the union traction trestle across Deer Creek. It is supposed he fell from the trestle. Evansville—Edward Jeffry, six years old, contracted lockjaw from a bruise on one of his knees and is dead. Decatur—The barns of the Adams Heading Company and the Vail Hoop Company were destroyed by fire. Loss, SIO,OOO. Twenty horses and mules were burned. South Bend—lt is learned that Charles Hickey, who died penniless at the county infirmary, was the son of an English nobleman and was separated from his family because of a quarrel. - Lafayette—Washington Price has been indicted for first degree murder for the killing of Henry Butcher. South Bend —The 15-month-old baby of Mrs. John Kroch was smothered to death while asleep. Delphi—Schools will be dismissed Friday and pupils will assist in cleaning up the town. Columbus—Dr. Hanley, of Franklin College, will deliver the high school commencement address on the evening of May 30. There are eighty-two graduates. Richmond—At a meeting of Richmond mail carriers a new style of hats for summer wear was approved. The carriers will sport nifty brown straws. Richmond—Ten days ago the local branch of the M. Fumely Company discharged more than 200 men. The company is now increasing its working force. Spencer—Harley Hawkins caught his left foot in a ditch digging machine and it was crushed off.
