If We Saw the Beyond.
Now I do not for a moment believe that, if those mysterious portals were flung wide, and we could see without hindrance all the secrets of the great beyond, we should necessarily be either better or happier. On the contrary, the probability is that, average human nature being what it is, sacred realities would he degraded to the ordinary levels of the human intercourse in this world; in our knowledge of life we cannot rise above what we are. What is wanted is a certain quality of life itself which will carry with it the assurance of the nearness and sweetness of the best and highest in the eternal kingdom of love.
