Bierley’s mother went to Thayer Saturday to visit and will go from there to Kankakee, 111., to visit with relatives for a few weeks. The largest steamship ever built in Great Britain, the Cunard liner AQuatania, was launcehed In the Clyde Monday. The new vessel is double shelled and carries boats sufficient to accommodate 4,250 persons, the entire complement of passengers and crew. It is a vessel of about 47,000 tons gross. A 6-year-old daughter of William Chapman, 8 miles southeast of town, suffered a fracture of her left arm hear the elbow several days ago. J. P. Simonds went to Monticello this morning to see his brother, George, who is in a critical condition at this time. George is 77 years of age. Mrs. C. 11. Porter, Mrs.-Ed Duvall, Mrs. Mary D. Monon officials have decided that, beginning next month, the road will pay on the 10th and 25th of each month. This change is made to conform with the mew state law. Mrs. Julia A. Meyers, Mrs. Susan Maines and daughter, Eva; Mrs. F. W. Tobias and R. D. Thompson. L. S. Alter came over from West Carpenter today to testify in’ the Ryan ditch case as an expert witness. He has had some thirty years’ experience as a civil engineer and is familiar with most of the important ditching systems in this county. He is opposed to the construction of the Borntrager ditch, claiming that the outlet is not sufficient to take care of the water. Challenging the right of Senator Kern to select the postmaster of Indianapolis, Representative Korbly, who feels aggrieved because the senator has claimed this patronage, has given out a bold and vigorous statement in which he sounds the tocsin of war. Colonel Theodore Roosevelt has been mentioned for mayor of New York City, according to the Morning Telegraph, which says: "Within a week, it is freely predicted the Colonel’s name will be placed in I opular consideration for this office. alongside the names of Mr. Gayi or, Mr. Whitman, Mr. Mitehtel and Mr. McAneny

Otto Braun, the band leader, was down from Lowell last night to conduct the band practice and everything is in readiness for the concert Thursday night. Prof. Braun has been sick for the past two weeks with a severe cold on. his lungs but has it broken up now and is oto the road to recovery. He made a trip to Mt.
