Would You Believe That Wood Would Cost So Much?

The writer ran across a similar interesting fact in making the rounds of the groceries today. Johnsonbaugh & Son had occasion recently to buy a small wooden bearing for their meat slicing machine. The bearing, which cost 20 cents, with 2 cents postage, is less than one inch each way, figuring out 1728 to the ‘cubic foot or 884,736 pieces to the cord. At this rate the cord of wood would cost $44,236.80. The work on the little roller did not amount to five cents.
