Saw Some Active Service and Wishes It Would Keep Up.
Walter Wiseman, son of James Wiseman, of Rensselaer, who is a member of the sth U. S. Cavalry, wrote the following letter to his sister, Mrs. Joe Francis, who hats; given it to The Republican for publication; . * Fort Huaehuca, ’ Ariz., March 16, 1913! I will answer your'letter, which I just received and I was certainly glad to hear from you. I am still on prison guard. We are having a pretty good fight out here. The sth cavalry fought from 5 o’clock in the afternoon till 7 the following morning. We captured 250 rifles and* about that many pistols. The Mexican federals crossed over the border line. There were only two injured out of the sth, one each from the I and G troops. The federals and rebels were fighting all of last night, but I have not heard from there since the battle was over. Our commanding officer said that he was proud of his men. We were out on the firing line and not a man got excited, although the bullets were whizzing by our ears. I got of it to believe I would like a longer scrap and I wish it would ljeep up for a while, but I don’t believe it will. Love to all. Write to me often. WALTER V. WISEMAN, Private Troop M, sth U. S.
