HANGING GROVE.
Henry Potts, of Rensselaer, visited his son, Everett Potts, and family New Years. James Jordan was taken sick Monday with pneumonia, but perhaps it will only be a light form. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur German went to Montmorenci Wednesday night for a visit with relatives for a few days. The McCoysburg band boys are arranging for a big social function of some sort at McCoysburg Saturday evening, January 11th. The boys are getting in pretty good practice, and no doubt will be able to give some real interesting entertainment.
A letter from Frank Peregrine at Valparaiso, states that they are having diphtheria and scarlet fever in his neighborhood. Their daughter, Mildred, has scarlet fever. A part of the family were away when she was taken sick and consequently they will remain away from home until the ffever has left. The new parcels post started off at McCoysburg by two parcels being mailed out. One package was mailed by a farmer south of here, and the second was mailed by Chas. Bussell-to Mrs. James Lefler at Koss, Mich. The package weighed eight pounds, which cost 42 cents postage. Parcels post will no doubt increase the weight of the mail very rapidly.
