New Years day, 1913, and still no severe winter weather. Mrs. John Meyers and daughter are visiting in Valparaiso this week. 1 Mrs. Joseph O’Connor is visiting her husband’s parents, John O’Connor and wife. John E. Plasterer, the principal of the school here, is Spending his vacation with his parents at Huntington. ■ , - , A ball was given New Years night. It seems to us that a good New Years resolution would have been to Save that jfifty cents. Mr. Brandenburg and family, of Williamsport, who have been visiting his parents here, returned to their home Monday morning. W. G. Willis attended the state teachers’ association at Indianapolis last week. While there he spent some time with a friend, Mr. J. L. Fulling, at the State Board of Account’s office, and saw some of the figures showing the actual savings this much-maligned office is saving the state. We would suggest that every tax payer write to Mr. Wm. A. Dehorty for the pamphlet, “Three Years’ Experience With the Public Accounting Law.” While Mr. Taxpayer may still think tlje law ought to be revised, yet he will admit it “does the work” all right. “Full many a man has lost his head Through eating soggy, half-cooked bread, And he who would his kidneys save, Had best avoid the whisky wave. .« « « Oh! foolish man when thus you choose Your soul and body to abuse, .You’ll realize, some pleasant morn, That you have raised an awful storm.” State Board of Health.
