Obituary of Mrs. A. A. Yates.
Adaline A. Tates was born in JoUet, 111., April 3, 1838, and died at-Rensselaer, Ind., Jan. 2, 1913, aged 74 years, and 9 months, lacking one day.- .-I ' ■ ""t. ■ She was the second child of thirteen children born to I. C. and Elizabeth Norton. Her girlhood was spent in West Lebanon, Warren county, Indiana. On November 16, 1859, at' RosstTlle, 111., she was married to John M. Yates. To this union two children were born. But Mr. Yates soon heard the call of duty and on Jun'e 27, 1864, at the battle of Kenesaw Mountain, he gave his life for his country, leaving his wife to walk through the remainder of her life ' alone. The greatef p'art of her life has been lived in Rensselaer. In her young womanhood Mrs. Yates confessed her faith in Christ and joined the church of Qod. and she has been an active member of this 1 church all her life, falling asleep in strong faith in her Savior. She leaves to mourn their loss, two children, W. I. and Miss Mary A. Yates, of Rensselaer; three grandchildren, Mrs. Elmer Wilcox, Mrs. John Eigelsbach and Mary Elizabeth Yates, All of Rensselaer; five sisters and two brothers, namely: Mrs. A. H. Fleming, of Omaha; Mrs. L. K. Yeoman, Mrs. R. E. Prather, T. J. Norton and Harvey Norton, all of Rossville, Ill; Mrs. J. S. Ross and Mrs. J. W. Cluster, of Vancouver, Wash., besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
