After School.

Logansport Reporter. The advice which Dr. Hurty has been giving to the school boys to stop smoking or refrain from smoking, is very good advice. Anyone acquainted with the records of the universities, knows that the smoking contingent in the student body always is found among those who have poor records in the classes. I have never known It to fail that the fellows who are always .smoking cigarettes and pipes at the universities, were always men who were being warned by the faculty for poor scholarship or were being conditioned in their studies,” remarked the university man to the importer, while conversing on this •subject. There is another matter of some importance to Logansport, which arises out of the habit of the high school pupils streaming down town after school hours. If you have the time, just watch the promenade of boys and girls down the business street, and observe the aimless trail they make withouj any apparant mission. A large group of these boys make a “bee line” for some of the pool rooms and spend their time and money over the pool tables. This is a very poor habit. It is not only expensive, but it unfits the boy who indulges in it for the serious business of school life. This, of course, is mostly the parents’ business, and at the age of the majority of the high school pupils, it becomes very essential that this parental duty is not neglected. •
