FARMERS’ SHORT COURSE AT PURDUE
Week of Education for Fanners and stockmen Promises to Be One of Unusual Activity. Lafayette Journal. A most instructive part of the annual Farmers’ Short Course at Purdue University promises to,.,be*“the various stockmen’s conventions which The Indiana associations in wresting program scheduled" for Tuesday, January 14, 1913. Sir George Cavan, of international reputation as a sheep breeder and importer, will speak on the subject, ‘‘An English Sheep Farm in America.” Prof. F. G. King will lecture on “Lamb Feeding for the Market,” and Profi H. E. Allen on "Food and Clothing—Mutton and Wool.” Wednesday evening, January 15, will be given over to the annual meetings of the Indiana Hereford Breeders’ association, and Indiana Angus Breeders’ association for each of which meetings a most interesting program has been arranged. On this same evening a joint association reception will be held in the Memoria' gymnasium for all attending farmers. •On Thursday, January 16, the annual meeting of the Indiana Live Stock Breeders’ association will be held. In the forenoon Secretary D. O. Thompson will addresß the meeting upon the subject: “More Live Stock for Indiana,” and the principal address of the afternoon will be delivered by Prof. D. H. Otis, of the department of farm management of the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture upon the subject: *‘The'“Farmer as a Business Manager.” All the men in attendance will be given opportunity to attend the stock judging classes held throughout the week ,by the animal husbandry department of thier;school of agriculture. Everyone is cordially invited to attend all of these sessions of the various live stock men of Indiana.
