Chocolate Fritters.

One-half cup flour, one teaspoon cream of tartar sifted with the flour, two teaspoons sugar, two tablespoons of milk, one egg, one large teaspoon of cocoa or chocolate, a pinch of salt. Cook in deep fat. Serve with vanilla sauce. Enough for family of three. Vanilla Sauce—One cup sugar, half teaspoon of cornstarch; mix In the sugar dry, then add half a cup of boiling water, a little at a time. Let it boll five minutes until it looks like sirup, then add the yolk of one egg, well beaten, and piece of butter size of walnut. Whip all together well, then Jdd half a teaspoonful of vanilla.
