TOOTH RULES SLEEP WALKER
Girl Doubly Cured When Aching Molar Is Pulled by a German -j. Doctor. Berlin. —An extraordinary «ase of somnambulism, resulting from toothache, has been observed by a German doctor. About two hours after going asleep each evening his six-year-old daughter would get up crying for her mother, and talking to herself, would walk with open eyes through one or more dark rooms as if seeking Something. On being spoken to In a loud voice, she either would make no reply or give a confused answer. After returning to bed she some times would sleep quietly and ht othertlmes would continue to moan. Usually she would pass the rest of the night in untroubled sleep, though occasionally she would walk again. In the morning her face would be very red. Examination showed that this singular conditon was caused by a sensitive tooth which had been filled. When the filling was removed ‘an abscess was discovered. The tooth was extracted, and since then there has been no return of the sleep-walk-ing. 7 7- • - As the child was otherwise In perfect health the somnambulistic state iq, supposed to have been produced by effect of the piosonous matter at the root of the tooth entering the blood and causing brain irritation. A
very Blight disturbance during steep is sufficient to excite the brain, which then is reposing and recruiting strength.
