Defeated Candidate in Lake County Contests Election
Lake County Star. Judge W. C. McMahon granted the petition of John Brennan for a recount of the votes between him and Edward Simon for the office of auditor. On the face of the returns Simon defeated Brennan 132 votes, but Brennan believes a"' recount will show that enough votes were thrown out to give the election to him. It is also claimed that mistakes in counting were made in several Gary precincts, and that in one precinct alone in Gary, Rrennan will gain 25 vdtes. Judge McMahon appointed three attorneys on the recount board—John E. Reilley, of Hammond; R. R. Ressler, of Gary; and H. H Wheeler, of Crown Point. The recount will begin today, Thursday, and will probably take at least two weeks to complete. The cost of the recount falls upon Mr. Brennan.
