Harold Hamilton visited relatives in Lafayette last week, ' Frank Howard and family spent Monday in Lafayette. Frank Holser moved to Ms new farm home near Brook last week. Charles Bonner, Sr., is not feeling quite so well the past few days. Frank Kelly made his usual weekly business trip herd last week. Husking is well on but farmers are complaining of light weight corn. Mrs. Ada Peck Bowman and son are still with her parents. Miss spent last Wednesday visiting the Kentland schools. Mrs. George Chappell has been very sick the past week. The Presbyterian ladies cleared over sl7 at their market last Saturday. Marion Parks visited last week in Lafayette. Prof. Wesley went to Indianapolis Thursday to attend the state superintendents’ convention. Master Russell Hamilton spent Saturday and Sunday with his friend, Ralph Kelly, In Lafayette. Mrs. Ella Hitchcock is making an' extended visit with relatives in South Bend. Miss Myrtle Ford is again clerking in the C. H. Peck Co. dry goods department. The Presbyterian missionary society meets with Mrs. Yeoman on Tuesday, Nov. 19 th. Mrs. H. J. Bartoo is in Rensselaer to care for her mother, who is seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. James Washburn and daughter, Grace, went to Indianapolis Friday for a week end visit with Grandpa Shonkwiler. Keith Spencer went to Indianapolis Friday to meet friends among the I. U. football fans apd witness the In-diana-lowa game. >s The Methodist ladies will serve a chicken pie supper Thursday evening, November 21st, at t!he home of Mrs. James Washburn. The ladies of the Christian church will hold a bazaar and .serve their annual Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 28th. Several of our high school boys visited the Goodland schools last Friday and enibyed a small game of basket ball. ' Mr. and Mrs. Ira Grant autoed to Logansport Sunday takfflg-Mr. Grant’s father to his home after a three days’ visit here. ' Miss Gretchen Ohappell accompanied her aunt, Mrs. Hattie Sharer, to Chicago last Thursday to continue her work in music through the winter. Rev. R. O. Wickham and wife will board for the present, having come from Lowell this week to assume the charge of the Christian pastorate. Mr. and Mr®. Delbert Allison welcomed a daughter into their family circle last week. Mrs. Allison was formerly Alberta Dickerson. Miss O'Connor, of the high school, is conducting rehearsals for the senior play, to be given in the near future. Mrs. Wm. Townsend, accompanied by Miss Primmer, returned to Huntington Friday morning to receive special electrical treatment for her optic nerves. Last Friday was visiting day abroad for our public school instructors. The Misses O’Connor, Hutton, Roberts and Musselman went to Logansport; Miss Yeoman and Miss Bartoo to Goodland. The first number of the lecture course, given under the direction of the M. E. ladies missionary society, will be the Fraternity Glee Club on Monday, November 18, In the dist church. Next week the mission prayer week is to be observed by the societies of the Protestant churches. Tuesday the Presbyterians give ,their program as per year book, at the home of Mrs. Yeoman. Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church a union meeting and Sunday evening at the Methodist a home mission rally. » Dexter Jones and Miss Alice returned last week from a lengthy visit with Mrs. Wilbur Kay, of Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Wade Green, of New York City. They witnessed the great naval review on the Hudson and visited all the points of interest to tourists. Mrs. Kay entertained at an afternoon reception in honor of Miss Alice.
