Rev. R. C. Wickam, of Lowell, has accepted a call extended by the Christian church of this place, delivering his first sermon last Sabbath. Mrs. Belle Greene returned last Wednesday from an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. Wellington Morris, in Berwyn. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bellows, of Rensselaer, were week end guests oi their son, Edward, aqd Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson. Miss Laura Roadifer has been making a two weeks visit in Goodland and vicinity. , Mrs. Hargreaves returned Sunday from a visit at various points in Illinois. Rev. and Mrs. E. H. Bull spent several days in Chicago the latter part of the week. Wm. Shonkwiler and family, of Raub, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Washburn. The O. E. S. oyster supper, served on Hallowe’en night, netted about sls toward the piano fund. The Stars also served a luncheon on election' night. Mrs. George Gray underwent an operation for stones last Thursday in Chicago. The latest word received states that she is making as rapid recovery as could be expected. Her daughter is acting as assistant nurse. Word has been received here by Mrs. Chas. Peck in regard to her nephew, Dr. Clyde Coover, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Coover. For the past two years he has had an office alone at 1086 Broadway, Denver, and recently he was put in charge of the West Side Clinic for school children. This is a strong recommendation for so young a man and a high testimonial to his ability as a dentist, into which profession he graduated, only three years ago. The principal of the Gilboa high school spent Tuesday visiting our public school. Mrs. Wm. Townsend, accompanied by Miss Primmer, returns Friday for further treatment under Dr. Krebs. Her eyesight is improving since the recent operation.
Mrs. George Hemphill visited her s’ster in Marion from Wednesday to Paturday. The Presbyterian ladies will hold a market Saturday, Nov. 9th. Walter Dodge, the ten-year-flld son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dodge, is sick with typhoid. *The body of Mrs. Sarah K. Bridgeman was brought here from Barkley township, death occurring Friday evening, when a return stroke of paralysis was suffered. Mrs. Bridgeman leaves three children, Mrs. Cora Dunn, of Remington; Frank. of Monon, and Mrs. Nora Dunn, of Barkley townshß). The funeral was held in the M. E. church Monday, Conducted by Rev McNary, interment in Remington cemetery. Clubs. The Fortnightly Club was received Wednesday, Oct. 30th, by the jointhostesses, Mesdames George Chappell and L. Barnes, at the home of the former. In the absence of President Mrs. M. A. Gray, the vice president, Mrs. Lottie Peck, presided.
