BEAR LASSOED BY YOUTH
Budden Checking Hurls Bruin Against a Tree With Buch Force as ——to Kill Him. Roswell, N. M.—When riding along a trial at the crest of a mountain near his home Wilbur P. Coe, son of a ranchman, laßsoed a young bear that crossed bis path and in the tussle that followed the animal was thrown against a tree with such force that its neck was broken. When Coe sighted the bear he whistled and gave the bear a scare. As it started to run he threw the rope around its neck. The bear whirled and started toward him. The young man, who is a skilled cowboy, also whirled and tightened the rope as is done in throwing cattle in the branding pen. The pony was almost taken from its feet Wilbur Coe is a graduate of the Roswell High school and last year was editor of the Coyote, the high school annual publication.
