S. B. Maxwell and son, Melvin, ■went to Delphi yesterday. Mr. Maxwell recently purchased a store and a aaract of land at Fairview, located west wf Delphi, where he and his son will coon engage in business. They have sold their dray business here to M. H. Owens. 3 Several friends called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kupka in the west part of town Saturday evening and gave them a miscellaneous shower at which they received many useful presents. X Mrs. Harry W. Foster entertained a number of her friends in honor of her visiting sister, Miss Jennie Wilhite, whose marriage to Mr. Leslie Werner, Ladoga, has been announced to sake place on October 6th. Claude Burson is in St. Elizabeth’s Xospital at Lafayette taking treatment for a gathering on his knee that ihas been bothering him for a long time. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Engle were called to* Lafayette yesterday by a telephone message .which stated that their son, O. D. Engle, lhad been stricken with facial paralysis and had been taken to St. Elizabeth’s hospital for treatment. It was thought that he wyi-Jbe able to return home next week. John F. Kopka sold twenty-four head of three-year-old steers Tuesday to a feeder near Brook, who paid Him S9B per'head. The steers had been on pasture for several months and the purchaser will now get them ready for the Chicago market. The death of David Hubbell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus M. Hubbell, occurred at the home northeast' •f town, Sunday evening about six o'clock. The cause of his death was typhoid fever, which came after an fllness of only two weeks. He had been complaining for some time but did not consult a physician until after the disease was then in such an advanced stage that it was impossible to save his life. David Hubbell was Hi years,, 5 months and 23 days old. Joseph Gant was 'home .from Radeliffe, lowa, last week, making a short visit with his family. Dr. Leslie Stine left yesterday for Brook, where he has decided to locate jir the practice of his chosen profession. Mrs. Stine, who is now at her home In Gary, will join the doctor in a few days.
