Obituary of Samuel E. Yeoman.
Samuel E. Yeoman was born in Jasper county, Indiana, August 21, 1839, died in Rensselaer, Indiana, September 18, 1912, aged 73 years and 27 days. He lived on the farm until he was elected sheriff of Jasper county and served two terms. After leaving the office of Sheriff he engaged In the hotel business, occupying the Makeever hotel, holding this for five years. In October, 1861, he enlisted in the 51st Regiment, company &, Indiana ■Volunteers, and served for one year and was discharged on* account of failing health. August 6, 1863, he was united in marriage to Nancy Braddock of Brook, Indiana. To this union three children were born, Orlando A, of Rensselaer; Mary C., who died In the year 1876, and Lillie G. Spitler, of Oklahoma City, Okla., besides raising John Braddock from Infancy, who resides with them now. Mr. and Mrs. Yeoman have resided in Jasper county all the time except part of a year in Lowell, Indiana, and Lawrence, Kansas. Mr. Yeoman was an honored citizen, a beloved soldier and member of the G. A R., of Rensselaer. He united with Trinity M. E. church January 16, 1910, and held to that faith until death. Mr. Yeoman has been in failing health for over a-year, but was uncomplaining and did not give np until death was near. He leaves a wife, two children, one brother, Wm. B. Yeoman, of Whitley county, Indiana, and one sister, Mrs. Sarafi Cleavinger, of Missouri, and one granddaughter, Ora Yeoman, and many distant relatives anAa host of friends to mourn his departure. The postoffice established at the town of Ade, Newton county, is to be abolished and hereafter pa&oxis of the office vgll have to get fteir mail at Brook.—The town was named after George Ade and is located on the Indiana Harbor railroad.
