John Kohler left yesterday afternoon for Chicago Heights and will spend several days visiting his sons, Peter, John and George, and his daughter, Mary, in Chicago Heights and Chicago In the latter city he expects to witness the aircraft today, but he has no ambition to be a passenger in any of them. --—— < —— iW. R. Jones was here from Francesville today with an auto load of boomers advertising the Francesville street fair, which is to be held next week. They expected to visit McCoysburg, Monticello, Reynolds, Pulaski and Winamac during the day. It had been the intention to start out with thirty car loads, but bwing to the dusty condition of the roads the plan was abandoned. W. O. Newman left this morning for his home in Oklahoma City. He says that there has been considerable building there this year and that he will be employed on work already contracted until Christmas. There was a considerable slump in the real estate business but the city is -too large a factor in the rapidly developing southwest to suffer anything more than temporary damage and he thinks in a year or two the city will be so prosperous that the little “squall” will be entirely forgotten. Sheriff Hbover returned this morning from Jeffersonville, where he yesterday took Eddie Karnatz. They did pot get into New Albany until 7:30 last evening and it was about 9 o’clock when they reached the reformatory. Eddie did not break entirely down but he was feeling very blue and he asked the sheriff to intercede with the authorities not to cut his hair off short. That is one of the first things done with all criminals when they reach the penitentiary. He was also very much in hope that something could be done to get him out of the reformatory as soon as passible. He will make a model prisoner and it is probable that his parole can be procured after a few months if friends intercede in his behalf.
