Eddie Karnatz Taken to Reformatory at Jeffersonville.
Eddie Karnatz was taken to Jeffersonville today, leaving with Sheriff Hoover on the 11:18 train. He will have to spend the minimum period of his sentence, one year, less whatever allowance is made for good behavior, behind the bars. He did not seem to regard his imprisonment very seriously and at the station talked with a number of his old friends and bid them goodbye, He said that he- was sorry that it happened, however, and that he will be glad when the period is over and he can return to work. Ed is a very nice young fellow and it is probable that he would never again commit so serious an act as that performed here. It would have been a fortunate thing if he could have escaped the prison, and many Rensselaer people had hoped that he might be paroled at once.
