Good Work by Firemen Save Medaryville Property.

Medaryville Advertiser. Shortly after two o’clock Thursday morning the fire alarm aroused our citizens from their peaceful slumber* and upon investigation it was found that the former Geo. S. Guild dwelling house, now occupied by J. T. Icenoggle and family, had in some mysterious manner caught fire. When discovered it had already gained considerable headway and our firefighters saw that they had considerable of a task before them. But they went at it with a hearts good will and by employing a gasoline engine and hose used in the livery barn adjoining for pumping water, and with buckets full of water, finally succeeded in subduing the flames. Much depended upon their success in doing so, as failure would have. endangered the Christian church on the south, the large livery and feed barn on the east and Gurth Guild’s dwelling house and garage on the north. The fire started in the southeast corner of the kitchen annex and, as already stated, is of mysterious origin. The loss to building and contents will amount to several hundred dollars and is covered by Insurance in one of Ed White’s companies. Have you noticed the new eleotrfe lighting system of the R-C-H car sold by John M. Knapp? The cars are equipped with 12-inch Bullet electric head lights and doable parabolic lens, and 6-inch Bullet electric side lights with parabolic lens.
