nr Library to Close. The public library will be closed hereafter between the hours of 6 and 7 o’clock in the evening, until further notice is given. Walter Seegrist, of Tefft, is visiting friends here today. Hurley Beam, of Chicago, is spending the Labor Day vacation here with home folks. Lawn social at the Catholic church lawn by the Christian Mothers Wednesday evening. All come. Emerson Coen left yesterday for New York City, from which place he .will leave on Thursday, September sth, for Jacksonville, Florida. It is understood he will work on a fruit farm. o The room formerly occupied by C. C. Starr is being remodeled. A new front is being put into the room, which will be divided and made into two rooms. One of them has been rented by Harry Watson, who will move his plumbing establishment therein. The other has not yet been rented. Mrs. George Fate, present lessee of the Makeever house, is intending to move to Indianapolis, where she is buying a large millinery establishment on West Washington street, opposite the state house. Her son, Clarence, will remain here and continue as landlord of the hotel. Mrs. Fate, before coming to Rensselaer, resided in Indianapolis, and at one time was in the dressmaking business. J It seems that for the accommodation of lock box holders that the corridor of the postoffice should be left open on holidays during the hours that the main office is closed. This practice is observed in surrounding towns and is a great accommodation to the public. The main part of the office can be securely shut off from the public and no damage could possibly result from having the corridor open, nor could anything be carried off. Today, on account of Labor Day, the postoffice room was securely locked part of the day, when the corridor couM just as well have been left’open for the convenience of lock box holders.
