Rensselaer People May Build Club House on Kankakee.
Rensselaer people who have visited the Kankakee river at Dunn’s bridge, north of Tefft, are impressed with its great beauty, especially at the point where I. D. Dunn established his pleasure park. A high, firm, grassy bank, with great shade trees, make a delightful place. The river is wide and the channel of varying depths up to 12 or 16 feet. The river bottom near the great arch bridge is gravel and fine for bathing. A sulphur spring flows the round and is nicely protected by a cement platform and the strong sulphur water bubbles from a tile 18 inches high. Quite a number of cottages and club houses have been erected there already and more will be next year. Several Rensselaer people are considering the building of a club house there and the plan may be worked out yet this fall. It is probable that about twenty people would be included in the club and that the shares of stock would be SIOO each. A lot is already owne,d by two of the prospective club members. A good sized house, with screemed-in porches, both up. and down stairs, a garage, a boathouse, an ice house, a good sized launch and two or three row boats would be part of the club’s equipment. The use of the club house could be allotted to sections. The plan seems very inviting and to be interested needs only to visit the beautiful. spot.
