Sam Stevens, whovhas been ditching for some time on the Dr. W. L. Myer farm at Gifford, has been suffering for several days with rheumatism, which has incapacitated him tar work. Dr. Myer has been doing some extensive ditching on the place. The Corn crop is very fine amt oats averaged about 50 bushels to the acre. The farm tenant Is Sheridan Logue. J. L. Brady, who is prospecting in the west, called on J. E. Hopkins, formerly of Rensselaer, one day last week. A postal card from Mr. Hopkin's say* that it seemed mighty good to see some one from old Jasper county. He also says that they like the west very much and are all well. They are now living at 2604 West Cleveland avenue.
