Miss Lulu Hickman, of near Mt. Ayr, went to South Bend today, where she will take a course in a business college. Mr. and Mrs. George Moleman returned yesterday from Lafayette, where they have been visiting since Thursday. Mrs. B. M. Clark returned to her home-in .Wheatfield today after a visit since Friday with C. G. Spitler and family. # * Mrs. Gilbert Albin and baby returned Saturday evening from a visit of several days with relatives at Wabash and Monticello. Mrs. Austin Hopkins and daughter, Miss Gertrude, went to Chicago Saturday evening to remain over Sunday and Monday. , Mrs. B. A. Timmons returned to her home in Kankakee, 111., after a week’s visit in Jordan township with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris. Miss Edith Van Arsdel, who will teach In the grades in Rensselaer this year, was over from Monon Saturday completing arrangements. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sigler, of Mt. Ayr, came to Rensselaer Saturday and took the Hoosier Limited for Chicago to spend several days. Mrs. C. Jasperson, of Tefft, and Miss Amy Peterson, of Chicago, came Saturday for a week’s visit with Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Bruce, of south of town. Mrs* Mary Troxell and Mrs. Jane Tyler and her grandson, Herbert Tyler, returned to their honfe in DeMotte today, after a visit since Friday with their brother, John Bruner, and family. This is Labor Day, the occasion of a great demonstration in large cities, but scarcely noticed in small cities and towns. Jn Rensselaer the banks are closed and the postoffice part of the time. Miss Elizabeth Chilcote, of South Bend, who has been spending the past two weeks with her grandmother, Mrs. Kinney, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sigler in Mt Ayr, the latter part of last week.
