Surprise Party Sunday on Aged Gillam Resident.

Last Sunday afternoon Uncle John Tillett was brought to a full realization of the esteem with which he is held among many Jasper county people and especially of Gillam township. His daughter, Mrs. Mary Parker, of Gillam township, with whom he makes his home, made arrangements for the party and planned it as a surprise to her father. People began gathering at the Parker home about' eleven o’clock and all had baskets well filled with lunch. Friends and relatives from all parts of v the county were there, numbering about seventy in all. At noon a large table was set under the shade trees on the lawn and spread with a sumptuons feast. The afternoon was spent in conversation and music and the occasion proved an extremely enjoyable one to the venerable Mr. Tillett and his thoughtful friends. Mr. Tillett has attained the ripe old age of 86 and is in excellent health for one of his years. He Is very interesting and entertaining in his conversation and is an optimist of the first water.
