Thank Friends For Aid.
The many friends and neighbors who gave us so much kind sympathy and aid during our affliction following the cyclone have our sincere thanks. Especially do we want to thank Dr. Washiburn for his attention and care of our daughter and her husband. Mr. and Mrs. August Makus. That dairying is forming no mean part ih the industry of Jasper county, .is shown by the number of farmers who are devoting more or less attention to it Five silos were shipped to farmers near Fair Oaks Saturday. Those receiving them were, Joe K6Sta, Steve Brusnahan, Alex. Hurley, Chas. Reed and ’ Vic tor Yeoman. Joe Thomas and John Lonergan are prospective silo purchasers. These recent purchases would seem to put Union township ahead in the silo line. Harmount’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin Co., which played here Saturday night,! fared exceedingly well. -Their large tent was literally packed, all ithe seats and even all the standing being sold. Matiy people also stayed for the concert that was given after the regular show. The show, from all reports, was very good for its kind, and the audience was well pleased with the performance. The state board of pardons - completed hearings on approximately forty petitions for paroles Thursday afternoon, ending the work of its quarterly session. Early this week the report of the board probably will be filed with Governor Marshall, and until the governor takes action on the merits of each petition the decisions will not be made public. United States Senator W. S. Kenyon, of lowa, manager of Senator Cummins’ campaign for the republican nomination, for president, declared when asked to state his attitude since* the Chicago convention: “I am a republican/ I purpose "to stand* by President Taft, the party nominee.
