The city school board met Monday evening and let the contract to a Chicago Heights architect to furnish the planß for the new high school building. His wife, who came with him, will return to Lafayette tonight Born, Monday, April 28th, to Mr, and-Mrs. James Jordan, in Lafeyette, a daughter. James Is a student at Purdue. Mrs. Jordan is In a Lafayette hospital. John Comer, son of M. P. Comer, of Barkley township, who was taken to Chicago three weeks ago by Dr. English, is out after undergoing an operation for double hernia.
Marian Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reed, has been sick with malarial fever for two or three weeks. She Is now somewhat improved and expects to ait up tomorrow, for the first time.

Mrs. M. P. Warner is able to ajt up now after being confined to bed for the past eight weeks. She fell the firßt of March and sustained severe injuries, the most painful being the fracture of the coccyx, the tip end of the spinal column.
Formal announcement has been made of the candidacy of W. H. Bertch of South Bend for the office of department commander for Indiana Spanish War Veterans. Other candidates are Comrades Walsh, of Lafayette, and Barrett, of Terre Haute.
Mrs. Ross Porter returned from Chicago yesterday, where she visited for a couple of days with Miss Myrtle York in the West Side Hospital. Myrtle is improving very rapidly now and will probably be able to come home by next Sunday.

- Mrs. Harrison Wasson and family are moving today into the house they purchased of W. F. Frye. Harry Jacobs and wife will move into the house vacated by Mrs. Wasson. Harry was taken sick Monday and bis physician reports that he has a well developed case of the mumps. The house vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs will-be occupied by a bridal couple.
