Mrs. Ruth Dewey Injured In Runaway Accident Sunday.
Mrs. Ruth Dewey, daughter of Mrs. Lida G. Monnett, received slight injuries in a runaway accident Sunday and Is now at the home of her stepsister, Mrs. H. L. Brown, on River street In company with her cousin, Frank Ayres, she had attended the Presbyterian church in the morning and they were starting for their home southwest of town. Mrs. Dewey was driving a rather spirited horse and it suddenly became frightened when near the Christian church and started to run. She drdw the lines in quickly and the horse started to kick and one hoof' went over the dash board and struck her in the face. The horse then dragged the buggy into a tree in front of the old school bulldand caine to a standstill. Mrs. Dewey fainted and it was some time before she revived. Dr. Washburn was called to attend her. , The horse was rough shod and the calks on the shoe struck her in the face. One M the chin, one on the upper lip and- the third on the cheek. Two teeth were shattered where the calks penetrated the lip. It was not to take any stitches in closing the wounds and the attending physician hopes to save her from any scars on the face. Aside from slight bruises she was not otherwise Injured and Mr. Ayres was not hurt at all. Mrs. Dewey will remain at the residence of Dr. Brown until she is entirely recovered from the shock.
