A striktog<example ot whAfmay be done wito the waste of Wd affiT lead mines has been demonstrated in the construction of the new union station at Joplin, Mo., the concrete of which is largely made up of Mat and limestone tailings taken from the waste piles of the "mines of the district. Of the 22 parts in the concrete mixture used in constructing the station, 15 parts came from the mines, 19 parts being average tailings, and 5 parts the fine tailings from the sand jigs, called Chitwood sand. Of the seven parts, three were of'MVdFTßtnd and four of cement. The center of portion of the station, built in the old Roman type~of is two stories Tiigh;-Wb sheds and platforms' cover square feet.—Popular Mechanics. - - • - -
