Temper Spoils Athlete.
Fred Walker, the former University of , Chicago strong man, who played a brief engagement with the Giants in 1910, was recently dismissed as coach of a San Francisco basket ball team for striking an official. Walker’s combination of quick temper and unusual strength spoiled his New York chance. One day he waded through the employees of a Harlem hotel and had to leave town in a hurry. He turned up a few weeks later on the Pacific coast, Where he gained much local fame aa "Mysterious Mitchell.” Walker was praised so highly that he refused to go to the ball parks except in a taxicab provided by the club. Last season he was not featured.
