M. L. Pass Says Groundhog Theory Don’t Work In Colorado.
Pagosa Springs, Feb. 15, 1912. Editor Healey: I have noted with considerable pleasure and some amusemenf-the various kieks and clubs that have been hurled at His (weather) Majesty, Sir Groundhog, especially those that have come from the sanctum of The Republican. I certainly feel sorry for my. “miserable” Hoosier friends and think yoii had better move, bag and baggage, to’this part of Colorado. We had more sunshine on the 2nd inst. than we may have on the 21st of June, and we haven’t had a single cloudy day since, besides we are “up in the air” a trifle of 7108 feet above sea level and our average temperature, government record, for the past eighteen days is 38 degrees above. On groundhog day it was two degrees below zero. Now who can beat this? But then “Colorado” and “SunShlne” are similar terms and can be used interchangeably without any confusion. Really I don’t believe the groundhog has even lifted his “near” hind leg at us yet. Slhcerely yours, M. L. PASS. Homer LeWis -and Harry Rowan, iflotormen, of Warsaw, and a traveling salesman whose name is not known to the authorities were injured seriously in a head-on collision of two interurban cars on the Winona interurban line yesterday. The crash was due to a misunderstanding of signals. Many passengers were shaken up.' ;Tfe~y«6u know that more real danger lurks in’a common cold than in any other of the minor aliments? The safe way is to take Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy, a thoroughly reliable preparation, and rid yourself of the cold as quickly as possible. This remedy is tor sale by all dealers.
