Obituary of 0.0. Hammerton.

Qran Oliver Hammerton was born in Jasper county, Indiana, on January 8, 1876. He lived with his parents on a farm northeast of Rensselaer and followed the early training of his Christian parents. He.united with the M. E. church at Osborne, Hanging Grove township, when only ten years old.

After completing the course in the grammer school he fitted himself for teaching and followed that vocation for five years. He was considered one of the most successful teachers of the county. The railway mail service appealed to him and he left teaching to pursue this vocation which ho followed for seven years and was obliged to leave the service on account of ill health.

On Aug. 20, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle Tullis. Their married life was one of perfect harmony. They lived in this city and vicinity for five years, then moved to New Troy, Mich., where he and his wife were in active church work. Mr. Hammerton’s health failed and they were compelled to move to Roswell, New Mexico, where they tarried but twelve days when the angel of death called him to receive his reward Feb. 4, 1912. He leaves, to mourn their loss his beloved wife, four brothers, Wesley, George, Lemuel and Temple and four sisters, Mrs. Hester Cripps, Mrs. Manaban, Mrs. Lillie Witham and Miss Eva, with a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
