Holiday Social Events.

Miss Margaret Johnson entertained at six o’clock dinner Thursday, Dec. 28th. The. table decorations were Christmas greens and reds; covers were laid for the following guests: the Misses Callle Bonner; Greene; Gertrude and Kate Besse; Grape--Ott; Dell Yeoman; Gertrude B&rtoo; Myrtle Ford; Mrs.' Minier, of Kokomo. Mr. Johnson, to stimulate leap year activities, promised a ton of anthracite coal to the first young lady guest who married and settled in Remington, no time limit Wonder who gets the coal? Mrs. Geo. Stoudt gave an at home to 24 friends Friday evening, Dec. 29. The pretillyjtrimmed' with yule tide emblems, the amusements novel and modern. The first feature was a free for all auto race, which necessitated a hurried scrambfi' to seach behind pictures, under rugs, in' crevices, etc., for the requisite numbers.-In this mAde race Mrs. Bert Gowgill exhibited the highest rate of speed and won the coveted prize—an airship. Each lady was doomed to abide by her choice throughout the supper hour. Light refreshments, piano numbers, phonograph and games made the evening one to be long remembered. Mrs. Stoudt was assisted by her daughter Ruth and Miss Stella Hollenback. M rs7X : F. Rainier <roeeivod the diamond ring; little Francis Johnston the gold watch; Miss Mabel Burling the gold bracelet, offered by Mr. Bert Spencer for highest number of votes during holiday trade:. Jdiss Blanche Burger and Mrs. Fanny DeLutz were .New Year guests of Mr/ and Mrs. Fred Burger. Miss Blanche is planning to spend the winter months iiriHavanna, Cuba. The M. E. Ladies Aid meets Thursday at. the Manse for the annual election of officers. The funeral services of Ruby Gardner, aged eleven, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Gardner, was held Monday, Jan. 1, at 10 a. m., in the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. E. H. Bull. Interment in the Protestant cemetery.
