NEW SEXTON STARTS PLAN FOR CEMETERY BEAUTIFYING.
Will Encourage All-Season Flower Beds on Private Lots and Is Receiving Mneh Encouragement. ■ • f V \ V ' J. H. Holden has assumed charge of Weston cemetery aB sexton and has plans for the beautifying of the naturally attractive burial ground. His predecessors in the job have done a great deal to make she place very delightful during the summer months and it is Mr. Holden’s plan to extend this work to the point of making Weston cemetery one of the most beautiful in Indiana. Mr. Holden has had many years experience as a flower gardener and this will make his landscaping of the cemetery an easy matter. He expects to border the driveway with flowers, to make the north side of the cemetery a fragrant garden of flowers and so far as possible to make beds of flowers on private lots about the cemetery. To procure one of these flower beds on private lots will cost about $5 per year. The beds will bp round, 40 inches in diameter and can either be of flowers or a solid bed of foliage plants. The center of the bed may be a solid color bordere dwith a small foliage plant or a small blooming plant, the beds to be made of flowers that will bloom aIT season. For the price" stated, the ground will be "repared, the flowers furnished and kept in order all season. If the season will permit, the beds are, to be planted and blooming by Decoration Day. Heretofore flower beds have been forbidden, for the rea son that when private owners pat them out, they were apt to " jje neglected and the sexton could not' afford to look after them,. The cemetery trustees will give Mr. Holden every encouragement and he is receiving many words of praise for his plan and already more than twen-ty-five people have directed him to put out a bed on their lots. Weston cemetery has been fortunate to have able sextons and now all should give aid to Mr. Holden in hh plan to still further beautify it.
