New York.—Australian diamonds are the latest novelty in the Maiden lane jewelry district They are declared by experts to, be of fine quality. Hundreds of these diamonds were obtained in the space of a few hours in an extinct volcano tn the northern part of New South Wales, and were extracted from the loam by the primitive method of hand sifting the sands tn a tub of water. About twenty specimens were sent here for private exhibition.
