BREAD AND BUTTER CRISPS— For this a fresh loaf, baked so aa to give a square slice, will be needed. With a sharp knife cut off all the crust; butter one end of the loaf and shave off in the thinnest slices possible. Roll each slice up tightly and fasten with a wboden toothpick. Lay on a flat pan, and place in a quick oven until crisp and lightly browned. Remove the toothpicks, and serve hot or cold; they_are specially good with a salad.
GOLDEN SAUCE—Cream thoroughly tos etber one-quarter of a cupful of butter and. one-half of a cupful of powdered sugar. Add gradually one well-beaten egg, one teaspoonful of vanilla and one tablespoonful of sherry. Heap on a dish, and send to the table.
