Rensselaer People Entertained At Big Turkey Dinner Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Eld Oliver were host and hostess Sunday for the following Rensselaer guests: Col. and Mrs. Fred Phillips, and Mrs. R. D. Thompson, Miss Irina Kannal and Mr. H. F. Parker. Mr. Oliver’s enterprise has re suited in him establishing near Newland, where there was once a waste of wet land, one of the finest homes in Jasper county and with Mrs. Oliver as its matron it is also one of the most hospitable. In preparation for the coaling of their guests two big turkeys were roasted and everything else that is good and that the rejuvenated Gifford soil will produce was served in proportion and it was a literally stuffed sextette that finally broke away from the festive board. Men of Mr.. Oliver’s qualities of progress are essential in the upbuilding of a new coqgtry ,and his home and its environs must be seen to get a comprehensive notion of what he has accomplished in a few years.
