Brother’s Death Called Mrs. M. J. Burr to Pierre, S. Dak.
Mrs. Malinda J. Burr, who lives in Miss Ellen Sayler’s property in the northwest part of town, received a telegram this Wednesday morning that her brother, Lewis S. Clapper, was very ill and not expected to live, at Pierre, S. Dak. She arranged to start for there at once and after arriving at the depot another telegram announced his death. Other relatives will accompany her to Pierre to attend the funeral. Mrs. Burr has not lived in Rensselaer long. She is tbe mother of Mrs Claud* William, southof town. Mr. Clapper went from White county, near Seafield, to Pierre, several years ago. He was about 54 years of age and his death was due to appendicitis, for which he underwent a surgical operation three weeks ago. Harold Pumphrey, son of Mrs. Grace Pumphrey, was 14 years of age Tuesday and the occasion was celebrated by about twenty-five of his little boy and girl schoolmates, who responded to an invitation to spend the evening with him. * They left a number o' presents for the young host’ and participated freely in the ice cream and other refreshments.
