Learned of Son’s Injury After Arriving in Rensselaer.
Mrs. John McGlynn and' two little daughters have arrived here from Buffalo, Mo., having come by train from Valley City, 111., to which point they had come overland with Mr. McGlynn. They were stalled by high waters at that place and were unable to proceed overlimd and Mrs. McGlynn and the little girls came by train and John will ship the teams and w: gons from that point. Mrs. McGlynn did not know of the injury to her son Fred at Valley City, N. Dak., until after her arrival here. Peculiarly, both were having trouble at the same time and both in towns named Valley City. While high waters had Mr. and Mrs. McGlynn and little girls stalled at Valley City, 111., Fred was in a hospital at Valley City, N. Dak., suffering from a pistol wound inflicted by a hold-up man. Fred knew that his parents were somewhere en route overland to Rensselaer, but did not know where to address them, and the word about his accident was sent to his grandmother, Mrs. Lorinda McGlynn, at this place. A letter received Thursday from Fred and his brother Tom states that Fred is getting on very encouragingly and that the attending physician says that he will again get out all right. They will come here from Valley City, their experience having caused then? to decide not to continue their trip to Canada. John McGlynn left Wheatfield abou• three years ago and went to Texas but did not find agricultural conditions good there and moved two years ago to a farm near Buffalo, Mo. Here he also found poor conditions and after trying it for two years decided to come back to Jasper county.
