JURY OUT ALL NIGHT; PLAINTIFF WINS SUIT.
Margaret Ransford Given Judgment Against First National Bank in Mortgage Conversion Action. The jury in the Margaret Ransford vs. The First National Bank suit deliberated all night.on the evidence and this Friday morning returned a judgment in favor of the plaintiff. The complaint alleged that E. L Hollingsworth, as cashier of the nank, had converted a mortgage for S4OO, the property of Mrs. Ransford, to the credit of the account of E. V. Ransford, who was in failing circumstances and who owed the bank. The evidence was conflicting, Mr. Hollingsworth holding that he had been properly authorized to make the transfer from Mrs. Ransford’s account to that o f her husband. Mrs. Ransford is now ill in a Chicago hospital and her evidence was taken from an examination made prior to her departure for the hospital. The defendants will probably as* for new trial and if they fail to procure it, will likely appeal to the higher courts.
