Ribbon Cake.

Three eggs, r 1-2 cups sugar, 2-3 cup butter 1 cup milk, 1-2 teaspoon soda. 1 1-2 teaspoon cream of tartar* flour enough to make batter. 1 teaspoon lemon. Bake in 8 washington pie tins, adding to the third 1-4 teaspoon cloves, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Put 3 together with jelly or plain frosting, placing dark loaf between the two light ones.
