Marion Paper Pays Tribute To Ability of 10th Congressman.
The Tenth District has tbe only republican 'now in congress from Indiana, but it is a great satisfaction to know that be is regarded not only as a fit representative of his own district but an honor to tbe whole state. Tbe following from tbe Marion Chronicle shows the estimate placed upon him by republicans of other districts:
A correspondent of the Indianapolis Star, reveiwing the political situation in the Tenth Indiana District, says that Congressman E. D. Crumpacker has his enemies.. This is only another way Of saying that Judge Crumpacker is not an inconsequential nonentity, and comberer of the floor of the House. No one but a man of putty could be in public life for a decade and not accumulate some enemies. Congressman Crumpacker is a man of strong views which he does not hesitate to express whenever he feels like it. His course stands out in vivid contrast to that of- most of the time-serving politicians who pass for statesmen at this particular juncture in our affairs. Congressman Crumpacker does not subscribe to tbe view that he who enters public life should leave his conscience and his intelligence behind and become a mere guesser of popular moods. That he is able to maintain himself in public life* is creditable to the Tenth District and evidence of his own forcefutness. The Tenth Indiana District should be glad of the opportunity to return Judge Crumpacker to Congress as long as he is willing to stay. With the return of the republican party to power in tbe House he would be about as good material for the speakersblp as the House membership possesses. All that tbe people of tbe Tenth District ought to worry about Is the possibility that tbe people of Indiana might decide to appropriate so good a man to the service of the State in some more important capacity than tkat of membership in the House of Representatives, v
